The West Highland Way

These boots were made for walking!

Planning to do the west highland way in a few months so thought I’d keep a little diary here on the blog. Just testing I can do everything from my phone, the wonders of technology.

Tuesday 14th August

Left Essex early this morning & got an early flight from Stanstead to Glasgow. Apart from an ‘oh ****’ moment when in my half asleep state I pressed the wrong button in the long stay car park, it was such an easy journey and we arrived in Glasgow just after 10am. With time to kill, we took in a movie and had a meal. We then got a train to Milngavie (pronounced “Mull-guy”) and headed to our first nights acommodation, The West Highland Gate Premier Inn.

At last it feels we’re properly in Scotland now & we’ve had a little glimpse of the hills. Excited about starting our walk tomorrow. The weather forecast looks good (until late afternoon anyway), might even chance a pair of shorts.

The route starts in the town centre and looks like an easy flat 12miles. So, just time for a cuppa, bit of tele (the great British bake off starts tonight and looking forward to making the most of a buffet breakfast in the morning.
